Queensland Links

Traprock Birding

If you enjoy a thoroughly good read, along with a wide assortment of photos of birds and other wildlife, then follow the adventures of Mike Wood at Traprock Birding.

Birding Southern Queensland

Excellent site giving comprehensive coverage of Southern Queensland birding in particular, plus many interesting diversions to all sorts of other places.
Also a great section on Qld frogs.

Cassowary House

Cassowary House is a small family run guest house which lies in the world heritage tropical rain forests of far north Queensland, within 30 minutes drive of Cairns.
Cassowaries visit the garden almost daily, wandering in from the adjacent world heritage rainforest.
The local endemic bird of paradise, Victoria's Riflebird, has display posts around the grounds and often comes to the feeding trays.

Chris Dahlberg's Daintree River Tours

A specialist two hour dawn boat cruise for birders, along the Daintree River and through the World Heritage Listed Daintree Tropical Rainforest.
One of the best chances for a sighting of Australia's Little Kingfisher, with Black Bittern a regular in the summer months.

Fine Feather Tours

Fine Feather Tours
is based in Mossman, North Queensland, adjacent to the richest birding area in Australia.
They offer full day, morning and Daintree River tours, with expert guiding by Del Richards.
The last time I was out with Del, we found Little Kingfisher and Great-billed Heron in the same morning, as well as a host of other North Queensland specialities.

Kingfisher Park Birdwatchers Lodge

Offers self-contained units and bunkhouse accommodation in a rainforest setting close to Mt Lewis, which is famous for highland rainforest birds like Golden Bowerbirds and Blue-faced Finches.
The park itself also offers lots of birds, including Red-necked Crake and in summer, Buff-breasted Paradise Kingfishers.

Red Mill House

Ensuite air-conditioned accommodation set in beautiful tropical gardens, home to many bird species including regular visits by the Little Kingfisher.
Enjoy full, cooked breakfasts with home made breads, jams and yoghurts.
Daintree Village location very convenient to Daintree River wildlife tours including Chris Dahlberg's Specialised River Tours.
